Essay Contest

The “High School Essay Contest”, is held each year in conjunction with Achievement Week. This is a mandated Program of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Interested senior high school students must submit an essay between 700 and 750 word. The topic changes yearly.

International High School Essay Contest


To be eligible, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • College-bound high school senior
  • Reside in the East Point, GA or College Park, GA and surrounding areas

Overview of the Essay Contest:

  • Must address all portions of this year’s contest question/topic
  • Must be original, neither previously published nor secured by copyright
  • Must be between 700 and 750 words in length
  • Must be typewritten, font must be 12 pt. Times New Roman, double-spaced
  • Must include standardized citations and a bibliography
  • Essays are judged on topic, development, progression, readability, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
